Shopping for a toddler's dress online means you can't do a quick try-on before you buy — so getting the size right the first time saves everyone a return trip. Here's how to make a confident choice.
Start with height and weight, not age. Sizes labeled 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T, and 6T are loose age guides, not guarantees. A tall three-year-old might fit better in a 4T, and a petite five-year-old might do better in a 4T or 5T. Measure at home in under two minutes. Stand your child against a wall, mark the top of their head, and measure down to the floor. For weight, a home scale works fine. Write both numbers down before you shop — it makes comparing across styles much faster.
Account for the style of the dress. A fitted bodice with a full tulle skirt (common in our party and occasion dresses) sizes differently than a loose cotton everyday dress. If a product description mentions "true to size" or "runs small," size up when your child is at the upper end of a size range.
